ABOUT US
The Autocrat Social and Pleasure Club, founded in 1909 and reorganized in 1914 under Arthur Boisdore, is one of New Orleans’ oldest Black social aid and pleasure clubs. Located at 1725 St. Bernard Avenue since 1924, it was established to provide a safe gathering space during Jim Crow segregation and has long served as a community hub for social events, civic meetings, and support for musicians and civil rights leaders. The club is also known for its live music and Friday night fish plates.
